Hey, I’m Desirée

A woman with dreadlocks and a nose piercing, smiling, wearing colorful earrings and a black shirt, against a light purple background.
At its core, MotherlandCo. is about possibility—what becomes available when care is aligned, values-led, and rooted in liberation. This is the work I am committed to, and the community I am honored to build alongside.
— Desirée

I'm a Black, queer, femme, mother of 2, wife, and licensed clinical social worker specializing in reproductive justice, mental health, + race-based traumatic stress. With over 15 years of experience, my work has centered birthing people, families, teens, and birthworkers of the global majority—those most often underserved, over-surveilled, or harmed by traditional systems of care.

My clinical and supervisory work is grounded in an abolitionist and liberatory lens. That means I don’t believe healing happens in isolation from context, power, or history. I believe care must be relational, culturally rooted, and accountable—not extractive, rushed, or compliance-driven.

MotherlandCo. is my brainchild after years of learning and unlearning. After working in systems that often constrained care, flattened complexity, or asked clinicians to abandon their values to survive, I knew I wanted to do therapy and professional development MY WAY—with rigor and humanity, structure and soul.

This practice exists to support people in coming home to themselves: emotionally, somatically, culturally, and ethically. It is a space where clinical excellence meets ancestral wisdom, where supervision is generative rather than punitive, and where healing is understood as both personal and collective.
