Ubuntu Birth Network
*formerly Motherland Community
Serving Since 2018
Ubuntu Birth Network is the social impact arm of MotherlandCo., LLC.
We are fiscally sponsored by BMore Empowered, a 501(c)3 dedicated to empowering women and girls of color through mindfulness and entrepreneurship.

We were a 2018-2019 recipient of the Baltimore Corps Elevation Award. We received a $10,000 seed grant to begin our efforts to assist families of color in Baltimore City with prenatal, postpartum, and fertility challenges, and mental health care.

We have shifted our initiative to provide a birth companion (doula), restorative perinatal yoga and lactation support to pregnant teens in Maryland's foster care system. Teens will be paired with a birth companion who will assist them with childbirth, lactation and support up to 4 weeks postpartum. They will also have access to restorative perinatal yoga classes to address and process trauma responses and hold space for their baby.

MotherlandCo. & Ubuntu Birth Network envisions a community where all families – regardless of age, race and economic status – have the right to birth equity: mind and body.
